PROPERTY owner Ross Randell will celebrate his 40th birthday knowing his property sold at auction on Saturday, June 9.

More than 40 people turned out to watch 58 Carranya St, Camp Hill sell under the hammer for $832,500 at 9am, despite the cold and rainy weather.

Place Bulimba lead agent Shane Hicks said four bidders registered to buy the home, with the eventual buyer starting the bidding at $700,000.

“We went up in $20,000s, until about $760,000 and then we went to back to $10,000s, and the $5,000 and from this stage there were only two bidders.

“We called it on the market at $830,000, and there was one final bid by the opening bidder to $832,500 and it sold under the hammer for that price.”

Mr Randell, who was present at the auction, said it was quite a nerve-racking experience.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever sold at an auction,” he said.

“We were really happy with the whole process and Shane made it all very nice and painless for us.”

He said he wouldn’t hesitate to sell at auction again.

“I would now, I am a convert, I think it’s a great way to go.”

Mr Randell said he could now downsize and was moving to live on an island, but no, he isn’t retiring.

“No we’re turning 40, I think it will settle the day before I turn 40 and it’s purely coincidental.”

Mr Hicks said the property sold to a family of four, who planned to move in and renovate.
