THE popularity of dog-friendly cafes is spreading across Adelaide, creating a new breed of diners on one of our busiest shopping strips.
Pooches have enjoyed catching up for dog-friendly treats at seaside places such as Semaphore, Henley Beach and Brighton for the past couple of years.
Now Norwood cafe, Argo on the Parade, is offering its own version of a dog’s breakfast.
Owner Daniel Milky said his cafe’s “puppaccino” – foamy lactose-free milk sprinkled with carob and served with peanut butter biscuits – was becoming increasingly popular.
“We probably sell 50 or 60 a week,” he said.
“Now we’ve got regular pooches.”
Its success has inspired the cafe to launch a “pooch menu” to meet the doggie demand.
Menni Sfyrios, who owns two-year-old cavoodle Leo, said it was important for cafes to become pet friendly because “a lot of people enjoy taking their dogs out and about with them”.
